Time To Hit The Beach !

This past Memorial Day Weekend Hayden enjoyed Cottonwood Lakes Beach and some swimming at Indian Lake. With the temperature in the mid 90's I was pretty jealous of him swimming in the lake.

The fishing this past weekend the fishing was sweet !  My in-laws Dave and Nicki Borchers let me and my father take some bluegills out of their pond just outside of Russia. The picture attached shows the fish we caught in about 2 hours time. I know it is hard to tell from the picture, but these bluegills were all as big as my hand.

I also did some fishing at Cottonwood Lakes again this weekend and caught about 150 small crappie and bluegills.

Yeah God ! What a beautiful morning/weekend to fish.

This is what I was looking at 6:00 Saturday morning as I started my day at Cottonwood Lakes. I spent a wonderful night with my son Hayden and my mother Betty in the camper and then got up at the crack of dawn to enjoy nature.
Friday night dad I and pulled in 71 crappie and bluegill (1 catfish), Saturday we only fished for 45 minutes and caught 25. Sunday night my brother Dale and his son Calen joined dad and I. We fished for two hours and took home about 80 fish. I will show a video of my dad's scaler that can scale all these fish in about 7 minutes in one of my future blogs.

Hayden's First Fish Of The Year !

Hayden received a new Disney's Cars fishing pole from the Easter Bunny this year and got to try it out at Cottonwood Camp Ground (Camperground as Hayden likes to call it.). This Bluegill latched on to his wax worm about 10 minutes into our fishing trip and he pulled him in all by himself. After he caught the Bluegill he had enough and headed back to my parents camper where he is in hog heaven watching movies from the top bunk bed.

I have only been out fishing about 3 times this year because of the weather, but have done pretty well so far. Dad and I caught 90 fish the first time out and over 50 the second time out. I went alone for about hour and caught 15 crappie the other night using a head lamp. I sure hope the weather improves soon so that we can get back out and catch some more fish while they are spawning.
